ANTHONY R. MIGNANELLI is the principal of Mignanelli & Associates, Ltd. Mr. Mignanelli received his B.S. degree in Business Administration from Bryant College in 1973 and his J.D. degree from the George Mason University School of Law in 1980. Mr. Mignanelli practices primarily in the areas of estate planning and estate settlement. In addition, he lectures frequently before both professional groups and social service organizations regarding estate planning and estate settlement issues. Mr. Mignanelli successfully litigated the landmark special needs planning case of Chenot v. Bordeleau wherein the Rhode Island Supreme Court decided that persons who are beneficiaries of discretionary trusts may also be eligible for medical assistance benefits. He also prevailed in another precedent-setting case, Pezza v. Pezza , in which the Rhode Island Supreme Court defined the rights of a surviving spouse to real estate held in trust. Mr. Mignanelli was voted one of the four best estate planning attorneys in a survey of the fifty best lawyers in Rhode Island published by Rhode Island Monthly in February 1998. J. KATHERINE SCOTT is an associate attorney at Mignanelli & Associates, Ltd. Ms. Scott graduated summa cum laude receiving a B.S. degree from Fort Hays State University, in Hays, Kansas, before receiving her J.D. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1989. Ms. Scott is admitted to practice law in California, New York and Rhode Island, as well as in the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of California and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Ms. Scott primarily practices in the areas of estate planning, including the preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney and other estate planning documents, as well as estate settlement and guardianships. In addition, Ms. Scott frequently lectures on various topics concerning estate planning and estate settlement. She is also a member of the Rhode Island Estate Planning Council. GREGORY P.
